More Treasures from Another Land
What a wonderful 4th of July we had this year in Annapolis. Nothing beats the beauty of patriotic decor and touches of red, white and blue in a summer home. I tend to leave my Independence Day treasures up until later in the month, in other words, my house hasn’t really changed since last week. It is a great time to share some more treasures from my adventures overseas. I hope you are as intrigued as I was when I first spotted them!

Yes the quilts are pretty and just look at that bread board….but may I point out the Korean painted screen above the bed. Good thing it folds because it was my carry-on on the flight from Seoul to Okinawa…no one said a word.

This beauty was spotted in a French Flea Market. I can’t believe how much they cost now! I should have bought more.
I have several of the German glass scoops from an old Hoosier Cabinet ( I am in search of an actual cabinet to put in my someday kitchen!). They are great in the bathroom to hold soap and makeup, and look lovely with simple arrangements of herbs. My lavender is just starting to bloom!

This German potato wagon just steals your heart…at least mine was. It was an impulse purchase at an Officer Wives gift shop in Germany. I am so glad this beauty is on my porch to help celebrate every season.

Speaking of beauty…how cute is this little patriotic Princess!

Have a Very, Berry Happy 4th of July.

Oh the glorious 4th of July is almost upon us! How can you resist all the red, white and blue…especially this Patriotic deliciousness! A perfect mixture of all the best summer has to give. Easy to make and impressive to serve, it will be the highlight of your holiday get together.
4 cups berries. Any kind! I am using a combination of cherries and blueberries and strawberries
8 tbsp sugar, divided
½ cup All Purpose Flour plus 2 tablespoons of flour to coat berries. This prevents the berry juice from bleeding into the batter.
¾ tsp salt
3 large eggs
1½ cups sour cream
4 tbsp unsalted butter, melted

What you need to do:
1. Wash, trim, and quarter berries as needed.
2. Preheat oven to 400°F.
3. Place eight 1- to 2-inch-deep (8-10 oz) individual baking dishes on a large baking sheet.
4. Coat each baking dish with cooking spray.
5. Toss berries with 1 tablespoon sugar and 2 tablespoons of flour to coat in a medium bowl.
6. Whisk the remaining 7 tablespoons sugar, flour and salt in another medium bowl.
7. Add the eggs and whisk to combine.
8. Whisk in sour cream and butter until combined.
9. Divide the berries among the prepared baking dishes.
10. Top with equal portions of the custard. (Roughly a ⅓ cup for each.)
11. Bake until slightly puffed and just starting to brown, 20 to 25 minutes.
12. Let cool 10 minutes. Serve warm.

The Princess, my hero and I wish you the best vintage holiday, as expressed in my newest addition to my sampler collection!

You’re a Grand old Flag!
You’re a grand old flag, You’re a high flying flag
And forever in peace may you wave
The land I love
The home of the free and the brave
‘Neath the red white and blue
Where there’s never a boast or brag

Should old acquaintance be forgot
Keep your eye on the grand old flag
