Summer is in full swing! Our first full week of vacation is in the books! What we accomplished…lazy mornings reading in bed, late breakfast, rushing off to Art camp because of all the lateness, enjoying a cool, sweet treat in the afternoons and best of all more time on our front porch watching people and dogs go by, observing birds of all kinds and hoping this summer doesn’t end too quickly.

Hands down, my most favorite place to be in the summer is our front porch…maybe the beach as well, but that can’t happen everyday. Our porch is lovely, especially in the afternoon when it is in the cooler shade. It is the perfect place to watch the world go by with a cold drink in hand. The Princess loves to read on the porch and I love that she loves to read on the porch. I love to decorate the front porch (but that’s not news to anyone who knows me.) Dinner is absolutely wonderful served outside in the evening. Come join me, we can gather, chat and repeat!

And the patriotic pride continues in our house. Decorating with red, white and blue just adds a fresh crispness to the house after the more soft ethereal flower themes of spring. My mind is squarely in the summer fun zone. Our garden stands ready for summer produce, the ice cream maker has been brought out of storage and the winter throws have been tucked away until fall. I may or may not have gone three days without makeup. It may not be the seemingly endless summer of my youth, but it will be fun, relaxing and rejuvenating. Sounds pretty good to me.
