Summer is Still Summer

What a strange summer it has been, not a lot of things to pencil into my planner, but simple pleasures around the house are leaving me, mostly, content. I know the Princess has missed her camps and programs, but bike rides and walks around our lovely neighborhood have taken on more meaning. Our garden and porch flowers have been flourishing with daily care, without the interruption of vacations. Would I want to repeat this summer again in 2021…probably not, but my family has found joy in this season, and I definitely would like to experience that again no matter the circumstances.

  1. I appreciate the honesty and encouragement your post provides. We too are missing the usual excitement of summer, but have found many things to be grateful for and frankly need a reminder to notice those things!

  2. I cannot help but notice how much The Beautiful Princess has grown since that adorable photo of her in the red sweater! This is a lovely post and it prompts me to share something that I came across a several years ago that has taken on new meaning this year. “Hold on to what is good, if only with your heart. Reach out with kindness, if only with your words. Count your blessings, if only with one hand.” – Margaret B. Moss c. 2015. Stay safe and be well! Thank-you!

  3. How wonderful that you and your family have embraced this difficult time. We’ve tried as well — although we have three young adults which makes it a bit different:) We’re gardening, we’re cooking, we’re taking walks — all are being savored. Kids go back to college (on campus but virtual) and high school (all virtual) next week. As much as I complained about doing dishes and laundry non-stop I will miss the experience of all of us being together during this pandemic. Stay safe. Thanks for sharing at Vintage Charm. xo Kathleen
