I can’t believe it is almost Christmas. I really believed with a scaled down Christmas schedule the season would stretch out and seem forever. Would this be a bad thing? Maybe, but I must admit Christmas this year is much less chaotic and rushed. I’ve enjoyed our decor and simple holiday traditions. Baking sugar cookies was actually a highlight of a day rather than an add-on activity. Shopping from the house from the comfort of my couch was also pretty great. I did miss the last week of school flurry of business as we pivoted to virtual school temporarily, but delivering gifts to my students’ homes was delightful…in a safe distant masked way.

I have to admit, I am starting to feel that spirit of Christmas. Maybe it’s the cookies, or the music or school wrapping up before break, I don’t know. I think some might be from my completed decorations…I actually had a moment or two to just sit back and enjoy. I’m ready for the eggnog, the presents and the socially distant neighbor party. I realized yesterday that it should have been the Princess’ School Christmas bazaar and Santa meet and greet…it made me sad. This season looks so different, so many traditions, both big and small, are not happening. We are safe, and thankful for that. With the world outside looking a little unsteady, it just seemed right to turn up the cozy. A cozy kitchen is a good kitchen. I hope a little cozy finds its way into your home this holiday season.

I really don’t like to decorate and I only have a few Santa’s…and stockings…and Nativity sets…and cookie cutters. Who am I kidding?Christmas is happening here. I don’t remember being completely done so early before. A quiet Thanksgiving at home did give us time to drag out boxes and bins. It’s nice to have everything so settled. Time to break out the eggnog and Christmas movies! Are you almost done as well or still in progress? I hope the season brings everyone glad tidings of comfort and joy!
